Handler was born into the family of a Reform Judaism family. Her father was Jewish. Handler lived in a great community with a wonderful upbringing. At the age of 19 Handler made the move from the city of Los Angeles, California to pursue a career in acting. Handler became an actress in order to help her. Handler took the decision to pursue stand-up acting at the age of 21 when she recognized the power of storytelling. Handler's career started with an acting gig in the cast that included all females in the Oxygen channel's reality-TV series Girls behaving badly. It was a combination of cameras hidden in the background and practical comedy. This reality show ran from 2002 until 2005. The host then appeared in several other shows like Weekends at the D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler began her professional career as a reporter for The Tonight Show. Handler had her biggest break in 2006 when she was named host on E! The show was called Chelsea Handler.
